I have been having trouble with fluid building up behind my knee causing pain. I went to the doctor, he drained some fluid. I was on my knee doing some work, after that. and the pain came back. I went back to the doctor, he said I have done all I can do in my office. You will need to go the hospital to get more fluid drained. They have a bigger needle. Not what I wanted to hear, but if it helps lets do it. So next Monday out comes the bigger needle.Stan

just make sure the overhead sign doesn't say "Large Animal Veterinarian - Horses Here..."

Draining joints just about makes me wet my pants. I have it done a lot due to my arthritis. I've got fluid on my left knee as we speak. I usually just let them be unless they won't let me out of the office without draining it. Just like you, I've had that knee fixed three times and the last time he said he did everything he could and would do more if it was worth anything. My OEM parts were junk!

Stan, be thankful that modern medicine gives you options (and some hope). Years ago, you'd be crippled up and all you could do would be to sit on the porch with nothing but aspirin.

My mother was in a bad car accident in 1948 and had to wear a brace on her leg the rest of her life. Her one leg was a couple of inches shorter and stiff. (They locked up her knee joint). Had pain in her leg every day, If she was alive today and had that same accident, she'd have a knee replacement and be almost as good as new.

Like a lot of you, I'm starting to notice my body wearing out (I'm 64) but between my heart and cholesterol medications, antibiotics (infected injuries), anti-inflammatory NSAIDs (gout), I get up every day thankful for the advancements in medicine.

This isn't to diminish what a lot of people suffer through for the ailments that don't have cures and I feel for Stan having to endure a "bigger needle". But when I'm not feeling well and feeling grumpy, I think of my mom who I watched suffer all those years without much that doctors could do for her. Good luck, Stan, on Monday. I imagine it's going to be a looooong few days until then.
