Lagoon crawler.

Has anyone yet to see one? I was looking at a fastline magazine and saw an add for a lagoon crawler, it agitates the manure to get it ready to spread on the fields! I googled it to learn more about them and watched a video, it was a pretty neat thing to watch, very pricey too. Lol

Haven"t heard of that kind of machine. Here, the pumpers use a pto pump that"s backed down into the lagoon, it agitates the slurry, then loads the tanker, or is hooked to a pumper/hose unit that can move slurry up to a couple of miles away, to a tractor mounted chisel that knifes it into the ground. With good knives, there is no smell.

BTW, I did google "manure lagoon crawler"....sounds like a fantastic machine for tough pits.

Like one of these? So this gets the solids suspended back into the liquid, prior to pumping or loading equipment used to haul it out and apply to the fields?

Willow Bend/Spring Hope Farms has one. Willow Bend
is in Clifton Springs,it's the dairy farm across from Thruway service area. Spring Hope is in Seneca
Castle. They also use the pump/knifing setup JMS
mentions. 750,000 gallons a day or so from a lagoon.

The lagoon crawler was demonstrating at Canada's Outdoor farm show this past September, in Woodstock Ontario.
It was fascinating to watch, it does an awful nice job.

It works excellent for us. We have a 3 million gallon lagoon and it blends it up great. Really makes for a nice consistent product to fertilize the corn ground as well as hay ground after each of the 4 cuttings. Empty it 2X per year.

My family actually has 2. I am in Mount Upton we have 750 milk cows here. The other dairy is in Saratoga we have 680 milk cows there.

750,000 gallons A Day{/b}, sounds to me like those cows are making more pee & poop than they are MILK. Or, there's about a MILLION cows in that herd.
