Frozen Hydralics

Has anyone else had this happen?? The hydraulic control for the loader froze up, I thawed it out with the heat gun and got it working. The temp in the garage is just below freezing, I have plugged in the flow through block heater and hope it warms the garage up. It is snowing and +09F here today.

Does your hyd. oil have water in it ? or was the linkage just frozen ? I'd give the linkage a shot of WD40 anyhow.

Hadn't thought of the wd40, the hydraulics work off the transmission oil, so could be some water in it. No real way of checking in this temp.

Loosen you trans drain plug and see if you get oil out of it. If you get nothing you have ice in it. Just hope if it is frozen that your gears are not frozen in it when you try to move it

you could try a bottle of RED heet for fuel in the tranny ,,got same problem on yanmar 2220,, got him in the basemen tof house making friends with the furnace,, 12 outside now ,yanmar just come on line after being down since 2009,there was lots of crude in tranny ,drained and flusht,,, ,, I put lucas tranny fix , changed all fluids , and put in new 303 deere,,and red heet ,, so far - no good ,, but it should work .. lol

My CaseIH 5140 had a joystick to control the loader Two cables ran from stick to the valve , that sucker would freeze solid in -0 F. Put on new cables, same thing next year. So we filled the cable case with ATF , end of problem.

Open up the transmission drain plug just enough to let the water drip out as it thaws. Had this happen on my ford 841 transmission which in turn locked up the transmission. Do not start it till you start getting oil dripping out since oil floats on water doing that should get most of the water out. You also might set a small electric heater under the transmission the help thaw it faster
