identifying a ford tractor

Would like information on a ford tractor owned by a friend of mine. He thinks it is a ford 800. Serial number on the engine is 67220. The engine is a 4 cylinder overhead valve considerably bigger that the engine in my ford jubilee.
The tractor has a select o speed transmission with 10 forward and 2 reverse.
At present time: tractor starts good and will run good until pulling a disc. Begins to miss and according to my friend he pulled out the choke and the engine continued to run. Next procedure is to rebuild the carb. We changed it over to 12 volts and used an internal resistance coil.

Would like to identify the tractor and any thoughts on the what to do next. I think the carb rebuild is our next step.

not much help with identifying said beast, but I would
suggest that in addition to carb rebuild you take a good look
at the gas tank, and whatever related junk you might find there and
in the fuel lines. had a similar experience with my farmall. I only cleaned the carb twice before i discovered the sediment bowl full of very fine sand coming from the gas tank. cleaned that too, and now have a new tractor.

Can you post a picture of the tractor? Ford has a lot of tractors that go past that serial number
as the 600,700,800 & 900. Hal

You or your friend should look at that carburetor
for a main jet adjusting screw. By opening that it will enrich the fuel mixture. Even my B&S engines have that feature. Hal

Kris Jensen,
Thank you for the reply. I gave my friend my one gallon gas tank to connect directly to the carburetor on his tractor using rubber gas line.
I have used this procedure many times on a variety of gasoline and diesel powered equipment to try to eliminate problems with gas lines and gas tanks.

Well it can not be an 800 series because the SOS did not come out till the 801 series. On the left side below the battery box you should see two bolt holes. Just above those bolt holes should be the model number and tractor series number. In the case of that tractor it should look sort of like this
8 7 1
%$%$#^%*%

Hal thanks for following for the info. The tractor we are working on has a wide front end, power steering, and the select o matic trans. 10 forward 2 reverse

First off, it has been my experience that if it starts easy & runs smooth under light load, then misses under heavy load, it is time for sparky plugs. If it just gets sluggish under heavy load but does not miss, it is fuel related.
Richer mixture helps a weak spark ignite the fuel.

Willie,
Good information. My 66 ford F 100 pick up misses under load and cleaning or replacing the spark plugs corrects the problem.

Willie,
My 66 ford 6 cylinder runs in the matter described by You. When it misses under load a cleaning or change of spark plugs corrects the problem.
