Complaining About The Weather

A local farm equipment dealer told me he can tell if someone is a farmer because they are always complaining about the weather. You know what he meant, if it's sunny the farmer says it's to dry and if warm it's to hot and if cool it's to cold,
etc.

While reading the posts on this site I can tell that there are a lot of farmers posting on here because they all seem to be complaining about the weather. Come on guys and gals, it is just a normal winter type day with some cool air. Get going, get out, enjoy and be glad you are still living.

The JD dealer in town had a sign that read:

"No matter how many friends you have, the size of your funeral will depend on the weather!"

My mother's aunt worked at an elevator. She said you couldn't even get two farmers to agree on the weather. If it was raining, one was happy because his beans needed it,the other wasn't because he had hay on the ground.

Complaining about the weather just makes it seem even more intolerable. Find something to like about it and go about your business.

One time a old long time farmer told me that "the only time a farmer was happy is when he had something to complain about".

Mom used to say: "Farmers loose their crop three times every year, and still get a good harvest".

I would reply to this post, but I am so mad about the weather, I won't.

I can't stand the winter because it means I am not productive. I am working on putting heat into my big building so that when the weather is awful, I can still work. For now, I can't.

The biggest problem right now is that the weather seems to correspond to the number of funerals. Being involved with the cemetery, I hate this time of year because of the number of burials I have to do. I can't explain how it relates, scientifically, but, when the weather was warmer, the funerals were less. Since the weather has turned, the funerals have increased and it is really hard to dig a grave in these conditions. It is hard to watch families try to hold services in blowing wind with -10 wind chill temps. I don't like this at all.

I will forever complain about the weather, being a farmer or not, when it comes to watching a family shiver while burying a loved one. I hate this cold and I can't ever condone the belief that global warming is a bad thing.

Take my perspective into account when you discuss global warming. A family does not want to have that last memory be a wind blown chill and frozen ground. I will not go into detail, but, consider what happens to you when you get planted into frozen ground. It is not pretty.
