Gas pumps today.

I wanted to get 5 gallons of gas tonight in a can for my truck I swipe my credit card it asked for my zip code I type in my ZIP Code now my fingers are split from dryness I have to really push the buttons hard to get the ZIP Code and then ask me to enter my loyalty card if you don't have that press enter so I do that then I think I'm ready to pump gas and asked me for my ZIP Code again I try to type in the ZIP Code, because of the coldness etc. it doesn't come out right it tells me to re-swipe my card!! I hate these new gas pumps they ask you all kinds of questions all I want to do is buy gas, I threw the pump handle on the ground and left., It was below zero and I didn't feel like messing around. here in New York most places are prepay or credit card. I can't prepay in the summer because I have no idea how much gas the lawnmowers are going to take so I always use credit at a different station. But the station is where I were I bring my daughter back to her bleep bleep mom, so I decided to get gas there tonight pilot station, what a joke! I like the old pumps, you throw the lever up on the site and start pumping.

When I want to fill and don't want to deal with the pump I go inside and just give them my card and have them turn on the pump. When done I go back in and settle up. It's still a pain to have to go in twice but sometimes it's the best way.
Another way is just skip all the discount hoohaa and enter through it. Even better find a station that doesn't have the fancy pumps and go there.

I just got back from prayer meeting. It is 9:15 now but when I left and I took my wife's car I saw that the gauge was really low so I would have to stop on my way home. It was 6 degrees and very strong wind. but at that station I don't need to hit any buttons except to select the grade and back into the car. Jay, you better start applying the old Corn Husker's Lotion!

Can not help with the pumps but there is a stuff called working hand and it works well for them cracked dry hands. Been using it a couple years now and it helps a lot. On a side note I do not deal with any place that will not take god old cash it is the law you know

Flip the lever up huh??!?!

Actually, at the local "Truck Stop" here in Sagle ID, there is a red diesel pump, and it is OLD! Just pump what you want and go on in and TELL THEM how much you pumped out and pay for it!!!!! I like that way personally... :) Bryce

On really cold days I get back in, close the door and watch the gas gauge to see when it's about done before getting out again. A 33 gallon tank can take quite awhile especially at some stations to fill.

So did this video change your thinking about doing that;
OR;
Is it more that is so rare it will never happen to me.

People like to use stolen credit cards to fill up because nobody asks for your ID or a signature. You just swipe, pump, and drive away. It's the easiest form of credit card fraud.

Some gas stations now ask for a zip code as a security measure. They figure if the card is stolen, the thief probably doesn't know your zip code. This helps keep the rate the credit card companies charge them down. The more insecure the transaction, the more the credit card companies take off the top to cover fraud.

It'll never happen to me. :)

I also fill my 5 gallon plastic can while standing in the bed of my truck.

I also have no problem using a cell phone at the pump--though I rarely use a cell phone anywhere.

I also have no problem leaving the truck running while fueling.

So would you use the pump beside me
or
are you a safety Nazi? :)

"safety Nazi"

Nah Not Really

But I do know most people treat gasoline like water rather than a class II hazardous material.
Is that because they are around it everyday; use to handling it; and are oblivious to the dangers because explosive accidents are rare.

Most likely so.

I also knew a guy that was burned alive from pouring gasoline out of a 5 gallon gas can into a 5 gallon bucket when it exploded into flames from static electricity.

So if I mention something in the mind of safety around gasoline; you can let it go in one ear and out the other; OR at least think about it.

Your choice. But as they say.....
The life I save may be yours.

Yeah, but at least she was smart enough to unhook the handle latch before pulling it out of the tank. That's where most people make a mess into a severe mess.

If she had pulled the door shut behind herself she would have dispersed the static and been fine.

Gas tanks rarely blow because the mix is too rich inside them. If there's enough oxygen in it to keep burning long enough to melt the tank, all bets are off.
