Haven't been around the computer much lately, but was perusing through a few pages here and seen your CV shaft issue.

These are pics from an 04 in our shop now. One of those "you did my transmission 4 yrs ago, so all the banging and clunking must be the transmission" deals. BW

The burning question is, how the heck can you not notice this going out? Must drive with the radio way up.

All things considered, he was pretty fortunate.

The design of the Y pipe kept the drive shaft from going too wonky. It did slam into the side of the transmission wrecking the man lever position sensor and the shift cable.

Hence the "I can't shift it and the truck don't start" complaint that it originally came in with.

Really fortunate it didn't wipe out the Tcase and transmission case. That's alot of metal swinging around.
 
Haha, there is truth in that!

Some never learned the difference between good noise and bad noise. This thing had to be making a whole lot of bad noise running at interstate speed...
