WOW !!! I can't believe the "crazy" money some of these are bringing !
And of coarse I don't have any of these models.

Ya,I don't remember if it was Sherry or if it was in Hart Parr Oliver Collector, but there was a long article about those 1555 Loader Specials. Not a bad return when a tractor that sold for $3995 in the 70's will bring $29,500 now.

That old guy that had the 1566 had two super low hour 806's that brought a small fortune too.

Dang, I was going to go to the High Plains Auction that sold the Oliver, but was still combining wheat. I have gotten some good deals at Lee's auctions

There was a 1586 with only 400 hours and continually kept in a shed that brought $45,000 on Machinery Pete's Auction show yesterday.

Looked fresh outta the factory doors. Had duals on it. The manufacturers sure made some distinctive and good looking tractors back in the 60's and 70's. The different makes not only had their own look but their own sound also.

Todays tractors are kinda like todays autos. All cookie cutter.

Never knew there was an Oliver loader special, there were a lot of Oliver tractors around here but the 1555's were not popular here, wonder why they picked that particular model? Lot of 16, 17, and 18's here. I was at the auction where the Massey crawler sold, could have bought it, was quite a sale. I'm an old tractor user, not a collector, sure is interesting how things change over the years.

I thought the MM YT was even rarer than that... I thought there were even less made than what he says are surviving today. I know where one of the survivors is, its seen at shows in Texas occasionally.

A guy on this site awhile ago said 15's did not sell well is because they were not much cheaper than a 16. Another fellow I know said if you wanted to strip down a 1550 such as gas over diesel, hydra power delete, and NF it would have sold new for around 4500 dollars including 3 pt hitch.

rrlund, It was in Oliver Heritage issue #19 June/July 2007 just went to look for it and was right on end table next to the couch. That one and #63 and 64 I think I need counseling. LOL, maybe Sherry will hire me to be her errand boy someday! Reminds me I need to renew my subscription. Greg

These Loader Specials didn't have a 3pt,or even hydraulics. The power steering ran of a belt driven pump and they ran the loader from a front mount or PTO pump. They didn't even have seat suspension if memory serves me right. They truly were an absolutely stripped down tractor. They pretty much had nothing that wasn't necessary to make them run and move.

rrlund, I also replied below . Isn't that crazy almost 30,000. My Dad wanted a 1655 back in '73 but the 1555 was all he could get at the time. When we bought the wore out 2-70 in '87 I still liked it over the 1555 for out in the field. Greg

I've got close to 9500 hours on my 1550. Just a handy, nice handling little tractor. This is a late one with the three piece side panels. I broke a shift rail in it a few years ago and had to get one out of a 1555 for it. It wasn't the same as the earlier 1550's.

I have the same seat on mine! Headed back out it is -1 right now it was 55 on Sunday. I also had shift rail problem but can't remember all the details this minute I think I'm getting old timer's disease. Greg

I don't believe they did have seat suspension. I just saw one at a dealer and noticed that. I figured it must be one of the specials. I think Ive seen a couple in my area in the last few years. Nice tractor you posted a picture of. Ive always liked the 1550-55 and 1650-55s.

The under carraiage of the MH 44C looks to be a Cletrac (Oliver) carriage. These were on the HG, OC 3 and OC 4. I have seen an AC B and Avery sheet metal placed on the frames of a HG. C.H. Wendel has a photo of an experimental Ford 800 series tractor on an Oliver crawler frame in his book Oliver Hart-Parr.

I have a 1964 Oliver 550 Special that was sold on the Canadian market.

Very familiar with Anderson Bros. of Edgeley. I grew up only about 20 miles away. I saw rows of the Olivers near hwy 13. Didn't Charlie start with 1550's? I seem to remember the Olivers were there in the mid 60's but I could be wrong. We boght our MM swather parts there and I bought 2 new cars from them, 1968 Dodge Charger and a 78 Plymouth Volare wagon (family time).

A friend of mine has a Avery crawler with the correct serial number plate for an Avery with the 5 speed trans and 3pt hitch. The paint is original and good on real strait sheet metal with the original fenders on it. He has it tore apart right now and is in the process of restoring it. Some people just seam to have the luck in finding the rare and odd ball stuff. I have had a few ones myself but not like my friend dose. Bandit
