Walt from OR

I was just wondering how you were doing Walt.
Glad to hear from you and that you're doing Ok!

I wish you live over the hill from me. We could have lunch everyday or some breakfast bullsh#t over a biscuit and coffee, or my favorite, tea. Sorry I am not a coffee man.

I hope you find something that keeps you going. It is hard when you have to change your whole routine, when the better part is gone, but life does exist beyond what you used to do.

There are people who will keep reminding you of your loss, and there are people who can start something new, who can give you a new routine. It's my wish that you don't forget what you used to do. You used to post here all the time. You shouldn't stop!

I hope that when you wake up, you know that we want to hear from you, and read what you have to say. I, myself, am a bit lost since you haven't been posting. I love your wisdom. I want you to keep sharing stories and knowledge. Please try to visit this forum more. If you just read and reply to a few posts a day, it will make me wiser with your wisdom, and the Good Lord knows I need to be wiser!

I'm pretty sad to be loosing so many people who are at the end of their days after a lifetime of farming. I love to see them and hear them. I listen. I promise that I do. I can't stand it when you sink into a hole of depression and self grieving when you still have so many people to teach. We do listen and we love you and the experiences you have had. It's a joke sometimes when someone says they walked uphill both ways to school in the snow, with no shoes. Well... I know that isn't far from the truth, and what you lived has helped me and a lot of others. I don't want that to stop!

I hope that you will keep me in mind when you feel sad or down. Maybe there is a story you can tell from your past days that will make me and everyone else think and either replicate, or evade the same situation.

Please keep us informed! Thanks for posting!

If I can spur you along...

Do you remember having a mild winter, when you could do some moldboard plowing in January? How was the ground? Did you ever plow with snow on top of unfrozen ground?

If I remember correctly, Walt lives outside of Dayton, OR. Stopped and visited with him and his wife, years back.
Had a hard time finding his drive way, thank god for cell phones.

Walt do you still have the same phone #? If so I'll give ya a call this week. Last time we talked was at Brooke's tractor pull, enjoyed our visit..

God bless

Keith & Shawn

Walt. I don't know what happened or when with your wife. But I lost my wife in 2004 to cancer. Sat around for a year telling my self I should have done more to save her.Good friend chewed my butt out one day. Told me you did all you could. Get back into life. She is gone your not.
So I started back doing what I do best. Helping people.Soon I was feeling better. Still miss her but I learned she will never be gone in your memories.]

Looks like you have plenty of friends here that need you. Don't come on now and then. Come on all you can. It will help you more than you know.

Thought of you around the holidays, Walt. Glad you have folks coming to visit you. Hope you will still find times of enjoyment.

My dad said the first year was the toughest. My mother-in-law is going through the same thing as you are now. We invite her to do things with us and she does some volunteer stuff to keep busy.

Good to hear from you, Walt- I hope you'll see some stuff from time to time that you want to throw your 2 bits worth in.

Keith, Walt lives south of Dallas, he is about 4 miles west of Monmouth Oregon on the west side of Fishback hill. Just 1 hill east of where I grew up, on the old Clyde Parks hill farm. Clyde Parks also owned the farm that backed up to our farm. Clyde had an AC WD or WD45 way back then....James

Hi Walt. I saw that 1066 Wheatland down on the Thorp farm this fall, near the Kings Valley junction. Good to see you still out and about....James

Hi Walt. Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm fairly new to YT, and I've been married to my bride for only 49 years. I have an uncle who lives in Cottage Grove, OR. He recently lost his wife, my last living aunt. I'm sure your going through a rough time.

I'd love to hear from you on these forums. Your opinions, advice, and experiences. Keep posting, please!

Gunny, in Iowa

Walt, I don't know why I always thought that you were from one of the Virginia's, but always did. Thanks for reporting in. Your pain is going to take a long, long, long time to heal, and will never ever totally heal, and shouldn't. She was your partner. Your partner. Been about a year now, right? The wound is still open and and deep.

From time to time, out of nowhere your ear(s) will start ringing, or out of nowhere, a warm feeling will glide over your cheek, and every time that it happens, smile because it will be her saying, "Hi Walt, I'm here"...and on at least those occasions you need to say Hi back.

Mark

Walt, I'm glad to see you are still with us. I have been wondering how you have been. I think about you when I have a run down 99w. Maybe one day I will be able to take time to meet you. take care.
Tim in OR
