Pulled up to a stop sign and smoke rolled
out from under the hood of my truck. I
pulled into the truck stop to check it out
and the first thing I see is a black
streak on the truck. Under the hood I
found what's in the second pic. Not real
anxious to find out what this will cost.

Be 2 years old on the 18th, and has 268,000 miles. Turbo warranty goes to 250,000.

Have you figured anything out yet? Is it coming out of the exhaust? Something to do with the fancy new emissions stuff? Or is it external to the exhaust?

If your turbo has had kittens, get a rebuild from turbo masters. Volvolater is way too spendy, they seem to think they can be as greedy as cummins ffs.I had the turbo rebuilt on my ved12d for $850.00, volkswagon wanted $2500.00 and wouldn't warranty it if I didn't replace the cac too......goofs

Hi
My neighbor trucks from Manitoba down a fair way into the states a few time a week. He had a new truck a bit older than yours, but not the same make.
He don't run it anymore due to having to carry a spare turbo with Him on every trip and sometimes fit it in a parking lot. His was i believe a $3000 unit, from what i picked out listening to him swear about it.
He went to an older truck that was emission legal in the states he runs. he totally rebuilt it and owns it out right.
He figures now he makes a profit not the tow guys and repair/parts shops.
I think he's right as he has a shiny Dodge and travel trailer sits in his yard. In the summer he's not trucking weekends like he used to.
Good luck and I hope this is the first and last time this happens.
Regards Robert

That's seems to be the way with these newer trucks and stuff. You just about get them paid for in time to replace them.

Good luck. It looks expensive to me. I think I have heard the guys say the turbos on these newer trucks can be as much as $5000.

My engine is the 11 litre volvo, but volvo also puts cummins engines in their trucks.

I just went through that. However my turbo had 700k on it. Turbo and water pump failed the same week. I love my C-15 Cat up until the time in needs repair. Turbo was $2700 and Water pump was $1800. Fortunately I didn't need a tow on either failure.
Trucking is fun isn't it?
