Massey 1105 tractor

Looking at buying a Massey 105 tractor. I found one that has 4600 hours on it and is in very good shape, mechanically and physically. Anybody have any feed back on these tractors? I already own a 275 with an 8 speed transmission and do all my haying and seeding with it. Great tractor, no problems.
So what should I look at on the 1105?
Thanks.

You will probably get better info on the massey forum. WE used to have an 1135. Not a bad tractor to run in the field and that perkins is super cheap on fuel when not working hard. Not the best shifting tractors. They shift better if the multi power is in low. I would make sure the multi power works good and the hydraulics. They can be prone to hydraulic bugs. Also look for blow by on the engine. Those perkins will glaze up if not worked hard occasionally.

I will second hayracks statement about posting on the MF forum.

Now my opinion on a MF 1105. They are cheap for a reason. They where a marginal tractor at the best. Around here they were known to have transmission and reared issues. The engine was the best part of them. Even then the older Perkins where just an oil/fuel leaking engine. Fix all the leaks and drive it for a day and start over. LOL

The MF 1105 where a better tractor than the models that came later. The 2000 series that replace the 1100 series really had issues. They well for little more than scrap price around here.

My dad owned his for over 30 years, has been a very reliable tractor. Has over 10000 hours with out much trouble, the multipower is like bullet proof. The 354 perkins leaks oil a little, and when I say a little I mean I add 1 gallon every 50 hours. Just looks bad with oil on the side. I think you would like it, I sure do!

Same here. Still have one for 32 years. The engine uses oil and leaks some. Starts naturally w/o ether down to +20 degrees F. It is the 8 speed. Has excellent brakes compared to earlier models. Caution not to put it in "park" if it is still moving the slightest or you will bend the dog lever and/or damage the reverse gear.
