How many would do this?

Here is Southern Calif it is the first time the mountains have had a lot of snow in years. People were lined up for 25 miles and waited over 2 1/2 hours to play in the snow. The town of Alpine every one drove to, ran out of about everything, including gas. Stan

I'm in Wisconsin. Playing in snow half the year(almost anyway). So I can't figure why people would waste that much time for it, or go nuts like its the end off the world.

Same thing in AZ, Thursday morning there was some snow on the mountain and there were people all over taking pictures! It was about a 1000 feet up to the snowline so I don't think too many got to play in it. I thought this happened every couple of years but I guess not. I saw where Lake Havasu had significant snow for the first time in history. I wish we had gotten some on our sewer system back in MN a couple of weeks ago, I am worried about it being froze up when we get home.

Up here I'd say no, I just got in from clearing streets and the way this wind is keeping on I'll be back doing it again later on this evening. -34 with the wind chill make the hydraulics work pretty slow so I'm not looking forward to going back out.

Russ you may be in luck this storm is heading east and dumping snow all along the way, last I heard Bemidji was supposed to get 4-6 inches.

We were in Maui about 20 years ago when they got snow on Mt Haleakela (sp)...people were hauling it down in pickup truck loads. I guess if you rarely see the stuff it has a magical quality to it.

I grew up in the snow belt of Northeastern Ohio. I lived in Maine, New York, and Minnesota.

I now live in southern Middle Tennessee. If I never see another flake of snow I'll be just that much happier.

Living in Ohio my Dad hated snow, he always said that if he won the Lotto he would buy a big motor home and wire a snow shovel onto the front of it,,and drive till some one would ask "What's that thing wired onto the front end??"..and that is where he would stay...

Living here in northwest Iowa, we get snow, and I have enough equipment to move it that it doesn't upset me too much. When I was in Germany in the mid 60's, my section chief was from Chino Ca. and when it snowed he went out to play in it like a small child. He had never seen it for real before.

I guess its a big deal in California but I can step out my door almost six months of the year to "enjoy" snow. Just spent an hour or so in -20F temps shovelling yesterday's accumulation. Thats enough fun for me for today.

Use to live & work in Gorman Calif. in 1965. State police used to pull all traffic off there & either stopped them or made them put on chains to go over the mountain towards Bakersville. Made some good easy money charging $1.00 to put chains on for people coming from L.A. They had no idea how to put chains on. Being from the mountains of West Virginia, I knew all to well how they worked. There were ski resorts nearby Gorman.

You must have taken that picture not very far from my friend's house. We live about 20 miles SW of there; I believe that it has never snowed here on this side of the valley.

(quoted from post at 13:51:51 01/03/15) Starting Sunday it will be BRRRmidji!

The BRRR is already here and headed that way, -11 now supposed to drop to -21 and feel like -44 in the wind. Sunday looks to be the same -12 and wind chill of -43, I wonder why we still stay here!?!?

Used to know some Amicks but can't remember whether it was around Parkersburg or Weston.
