How many are going out tonight to bring in the new year. Be careful if you do, more crazies will be out than usual. I am going to bed about the same time, and when I wake up it will be another new year. Stan

That whole thing stopped being fun quite a few years ago. I hope to be in bed by 10,like always. if I'm not,it won't be because I'm having fun.

We went to a New Year's eve party right next door in 1978 when we lived in Iowa. We were the only ones there because of the snow storm. We went home early and had to wade through the snow.

When we go up the next morning, there was a 5 ft. deep snowdrift in out driveway. Took awhile to clear that out with out snowblower.

Haven't left home for New Year's since then.

I don't think I/we ever went to an organized new years event. We like to party when we want, not when the calendar says we should.

we will be going again to the local fireworks show at the ski mountain at around 11 pm. then we go home and set off our own fireworks.

I'll be working night shift, getting off at 1:00!! My co-worker said he's bringing a 7 1/2" TV, so we can watch the ball drop!! Whoopee!! Happy New Year to all the YT'ers!! We can only hope it'll be as good or better than previous years!! Came home last night at 1:30 and gas was $1.959 at three stations I went by!!

I have no choice, I have to bring my daughter back to her mother at 7pm. So far we had to bring her back in 2 snowstorms, a real good idea with this custody situation., Mother didn't even have enough sense to tell me to keep her an extra day, bring her back after the storm. Lol

Haven't partied for the new year for ages. Maybe it's age, maybe it's because of that party in the bar 15 years ago. Must be a combination of both? Anyway, we will be having three grandkids overnight so a couple of people who are still young can party. I'll have my usual one beer and go to bed at the usual time. Their parents are getting to the age where they don't party very hard anymore.

Probably a quiet one at home, cozy corner near the wood stove, recliner and TV, though there are options to go out and I always enjoyed it to some extent in the past, its nice to socialize in a favorite spot, but places tend to get crowded on this evening, people getting inebriated, not my thing to do that, so its best to gather up another time. Many call it amateur night, so being on the roads, you had best use care, and they will be out checking tonight for sure, so one would be wise to take the free cab ride home that has been offered, or pay for one if needed and you have imbibed too much in the festivities. Usual fare for me, prepare a hot meal, have a cold beer of my favorite style, in one of my prized beer glasses and the usual nonsense on TV LOL ! And you know what, later on I'll add in a chaser of some of this "organic" Vermont Maple Liquor, for the toast at midnight! I love to open the door and go outside like on the 4th of July and listen to all the clatter in the distance, usually some gun fire, fireworks and the odd set of pots and pans clanging somewhere LOL ! Nothing exciting, but its nice to be safe, warm, well fed, enjoy a toast, and be thankful for the previous.

On the other hand.....

I'd really like to make it exciting and gather up my full entourage, hit up all the popular spots, but then I keep forgetting, I'm no celebrity, don't have the jet and the limo, and the entourage is in midlife crisis if any are left ! The destinations wherever, are well, just too cost prohibitive LOL! So we'll just skip the globe hopping for now ! Champagne taste, beer pocket book ! Now if the budget matched the imagination.......... naa.... still better spent on the staples of life, you know, old tractors, implements, land, and any other old junk that needs fixing, might be dull to some, but practical for those who play or work in the dirt LOL !

Best wishes in the New Year !!!

Guys, Many yrs ago I....I changed My mind set to "Leave it to the Amateurs!" I didn't loose anything then So I Do Not need to Go Back! Wife and I will stay home and not have to Play Russian Roulette with the Drunks!
We will be home, see in the New Year, go to bed at a decent hour, Wake up Bright eyed and Bushy tailed !!
Later,
John A.

I did all my partying when I was younger...and survived somehow, Thank God....Now the extent of it is I might stay up to see the New Year in, sober as a sober judge,...and I might not. After having been around for 80 New Years, it sure ain't mandatory to stay up to see another one in, I'm just glad to be here looking toward next year's tractor fun and our club's activities to get going again this coming year. (The "club" is Center Adams Antique Power and Equipment Club, Hillsdale County, Ransom, Michigan....new members welcome)

Suppose to ice up tonight. So I am staying home where the drunks can't get me. Besides a BEER run is thirty miles. Bar is eighty.Getting to old to explain to the DPS. Why I am driving in the ditch.

Wife and I always love to dance, and used to go out for New Years every year. One year we got home just in time to have some toast and coffee change our clothes , and head out to milk. But NO More!! Well over 50 now , still love to dance but, seem to run out of gas about 10:30 when I know I have to get up and milk. Getting old sucks, but the alternative is worse. So I will say Happy New Year to the MRS. at 5:00 am tomorrow morning ,instead of 12:01am. Sure it will work out the same. Bruce

The wife and I will hang in there until our normal bed time, then call it a night. Sure to hear some gun fire, M80's, and canon noises tonight, maybe a few people fighting, too.

But we'll probably sleep through all of it tonight, and wake up just as tired as we always are every morning!

Yep, growing old is sure fun!

Went to church for this year's last service and will stay home for the New Year to arrive (2 hours and 10 minutes to go here).
Happy New Year to all of you!

Hendrik

New Year? What? I ain't quite done with the old one yet! Still got more to do! Oh well. As is said: Time waits for no one. I just wish it would slow down as much as I seem to as I age. Seems I keep getting further behind with each new calendar. I tend not to look at them. It's enough to know "it's wednesday, the feed truck day".

Each new day bring enough to celebrate, ponder, fix, and worry over. I don't care to even think about a new stack of 365 of them. Tomorrow will be little different than today, and today was little different than most of the past 365 in that I keep busy without ever leaving the property: the need for me to be here is far greater than any need or desire to be anywhere else, especially out among those who see more value in time spent renting beer and missing sleep than forking fodder and pitching poop. I'll go to bed long before the ball drops, after having a tall drink (of hot tea). I'll get up in the morning to feed the stove, feed critters, feed myself, then continue with the "SSDD". Some days I even make coffee for the better half (if I did it all the time, she wouldn't appreciate it as much when I do, and even worse, come to expect it). Life seems best one day at a time.

I suppose I should for old times sake recycle the annual resolutions:
1) Clean out the garage to make fixing equipment easier.
2) Don't throw anything away that might be useful later.

Between the both, I never have to come up with a new one. :D

Here's wishing you all a blessed and bountiful 52 weeks to do what you enjoy most.

Well Worn

The Mrs and I are going on an adventure. Well, for old fogies anyway.
Drop the car off at the park and ride and catch the Metro train to Mall of America and go to dinner at a seafood joint there.
Catch the train back and then drive home.
Probably be asleep by 11:00.

We stay home and invite 5 families over. Each year I question if we should do it again, but the participants seem to think it would not be the same without it! No alcohol, started it when the kids were in HS, but now they are 'to good' for us oldies!

Swmbo is sick and isn't very social so it's the same as last year and the year before and ect...
Plus I don't feel all that great .
May the New Year bring everyone good tidings and health

West Texas is iced in I20 in Abilene area is pretty well shut down. Temps in hi teens and gonna stay that way for while.

Celebrate it just like it I will on my birthday (which is just over another week from now), turn in about 9 pm and wake tomorrow about 5:00 am up to another year gone by!!!!! They both come and quicker every year, can't hardly keep up!!!!

We had an early supper at our local Elks with old friends. Made a toast to 2015, told some stories, and were home at 8:30. I really feel bad about not driving home at 1:30am with all the crazies, and it's too dang cold and windy to go out and howl at the moon so we'll just stay in and welcome 2015.

Went to a friends house and had gumbo. I would be surprised if anyone there will stay until midnight. I was home by 8:30.
