OT- Appalachian trailers

Thinking about buying a deck over 12000lb Appalachian trailer. Anybody own one? Just wondering if there any good. Thanks

The company I work for bought one two years ago. Use it for hauling tractors and golf course equipment. It has served well with no problems. Probably about 8500-9000 pounds.

By their website it looks like they have 2 quality levels. The cheaper is questionable if you ask me. They will work for light use only. The have the double eye springs which are the cheapest for a reason. If your a farmer and are going to be going off road to haul hay and such you can easily bend those springs, which is what puts the alignment off and causes tire problems. They also have 25" crossmember spacing which is as wide a spacing as I've ever seen. I would expect a lot of broken floor boards, especially after the floor is a couple years old. The better quality trailers look better with slipper springs and 16" crossmember spacing. The frame material sounds good, but it's imposible to tell if the frame design is good without pics. I question their ratings a bit as they claim 2500lbs tongue weight on some ball hitchbumper trailers and I would have to do some research to see if they make couplers and hitches strong enough to handle that.

I have one and wouldn't buy another. Mine's a 12000 deckover bumper pull, built in '06. What Appalachian lacks in engineering they make up in beef. Fit and finish isn't the best, but it works. Mine weighs almost 3500#.

I bought a new tandem axel deck over, single wheel goose neck from them about 15 years ago. I think it was about 24'long. It worked very well for me and I sold it to a friend of my son's. They still have it and are happy with it.

I think I'm going to buy a Pequea trailer. After talking to a few people that own them they all said I cant go wrong. Thanks for the replies.
