a few yrs ago I showed my dad some pics that I think were on a link here to a auctioneers website, there were endless pics of old trs sitting in row after row after row, then just endless pics of random trs all at one location,im thinking I remember there was a little over 400 trs at this place..then I ran across some pics on these huge engines sitting in a field/pasture rotting away,i think they were close to the miss river and used to make electric yrs ago, like a power station, maybe??.does anyone know where I could find these at again,im not having any luck,or know of any,i just enjoy viewing, and wondering how a person acumilates so much in a life time??.anyone have any stories of vast amounts of stuff just sitting for yrs,im sure theres lots and lots of fields/growed up farms all over the Midwest with huge amounts of what once would have been good trs/equip once you get off the interstate highways???

The "cars in barns" group are of a similar jondra finding machines being ruined by their owners. That groups also finds tractors among cars.

This is the only one I had. A guy heard about it, tracked me down recently. I ended up selling it for nearly what it cost me 30 yrs ago. Parked it because it was so rusty I was afraid it might leave me behind. Never got around to restoration. 3 buyers wanted it, after a craigslist ad ran for a few hours. A (running) modern Audi TT cost me only a little more. Big engineering difference over those 30 years.

An amazing auction is coming up next year:

Guys leasing hunting here will take me to where they think are 100 Corvairs this weekend. Been several years since they hunted that property, may still be there. Remains to be seen if they are really Corvairs. The tractor they thought was what I wanted turned out to be a compact Kubota. I don't want another compact.

The tractor collection sounds like Jim Erdle's.
That was a helluva of an auction. September 2013

That may have been the Phillips sale at Bridgeport,NE in 2008
with nearly 3000 old tractors..Row after row of tractors...

I know of a bunch of old tractors that have been sitting since
the 1940's..Rumor is that they may sell in 2015..

If you're ever towards Northern VA Leon's Junkyard
on US 29 at the Madison/Culpeper line has a bunch of old cars and the fellow's dad used to have a bunch of Vettes in several buildings.

I've been to Leon's, but didn't see any Vettes. Don't remember anything inside buildings either, too busy watching out for snakes while looking for an F150 cab, which we found. Wonderful place.

There was a similar junkyard further south near me, but now gone. I miss those old self-service junkyards. Always cheap, and full of treasures.

BTW, when I heard what that Alfa would be worth in good condition, I almost decided to keep it. One can now even buy a new floor pan, along with the body parts that were too far gone to salvage.

Then I took a 2800 mile trip at Thanksgiving in my TT. Somebody else can drive that Alfa, worth many times more than my TT. Similar cars in many respects. Older and maybe wiser now, this trip I didn't get 2 speeding tickets in 2 states in less than 2 hrs, in a much faster car with W tires.

I don't know about tanks, but the Chinese bucket teeth I bought were made from excellent steel.
