OT-Belarus Front tires

I have a Belarus 825 with 11.2 x 20 front tires that need replaced. Today I came across a nearly new set of 9.5 x 20 ag tires that I can buy very reasonable. About the only time I use the front wheel assist is moving snow in the winter. Are these too small to use on this tractor recognizing that the main use of front wheel assist will be in snow and ice conditions? Thanks.

I would guess that the rim might be a little wide. I knew a guy that put lug truck tires on the front of his but I'm not sure of the size, 11.00x20 maybe? I had a 825 that had 13.6x20 on the front when I needed to replace them all the tire places scratched their head and said. "you have a Belarus doncha". I ended up buying from Belaruse. At least it helped me sell the POS.

I always tell anyone doing what you are doing IF you just can not match the original size go SMALLER. You will have less front wheel drive. The normal on something like your tractor is for the front to out run the back by about 3 to 4 % so if you put the smaller tires you are getting back to 1 to 1 or so. First problem you will notice is may be hard to get it out of four wheel without backing up a little. Operating in snow you might get buy but definitely not a good idea.

As said before- Best to stick with the appropraite size for the FWA. My 530 is 2wd so not an issue, however 7.50/20 can be interesting to find.
Got the exact ones to replace from Nebraska Tire when the sidewalls were too cracked for my comfort with the loader work...again when I found a broken T-post.
Good prices/quick shipping to Ohio.

Hi
You can't replace the rear 15.5x 38 with 16.9 x38 without changing front tires over to bigger. so you might have problems changing the fronts smaller. i do know you might burn the slip clutch out in the middle of the input shafts, and if thats to tight everything else you might wreck in the hubs for gears and shafts is expensive if it's to far out.
I think early 500 tractors had 8.2 x 20 and 13.6x38 as the match in the U.k, and in Canada they had 16.9x 30 with them.
the newer series had 18.4 34 or 16.938 and 13.6 x20. so that gives an idea of front and back sizes that match
There is a place in Winnipeg, Manitoba sells a crane tire to replace the Belarus ones. they seem to work ok, for what they cost.
I think there was a tire guy on ebay had those 11.2 tires a while ago to.

Those tires are on ebay now $560 a pair. if you put those others on and wreck stuff. 2 of the bevel gear shafts in the angle drive are near $500 U.S the pair. The proper tires at that price plus shipping sounds cheap to me!

Replaced 15.5.38 with 18.4.38 and didn't change rims works fine . The as long as the rim size is the same it will . With a four wheel drive tractor you need to keep them the same height most manuals will tell what sizes will work together

This tractor was purchased new by my Dad. If I recall correctly, it originally had 15.5 x 38 on it, but the dealer put 18.4 x 34 on it at the time of purchase per Dad's request. The fronts are still the 11.2 x 20's. It has ran that way since 1993. I am not worried about the width of the 9.5, just wondering how much smaller/shorter they would be. Unfortunately, they are 125 miles away, and not easy to measure. Sounds like the general consensus is they would be too small. Thanks.

According to Titan.

9.5-20 is 37.5 inches tall
11.2-20 is 37.7 inches tall

You might have a little variation from manufacturer to manufacturer. But you should be fine on the fronts.

Looking at the rears... different story.
A 15.5-38 is 62 inches tall. A 18.4-38 is 70 inches tall.

That is quite a difference. Did the dealer originally change the gears when you bought it?

Hi we sold these 825's new. they had 15.5 tires on from factory. and 11.5's on the front. Guys wanted 16.9.s on. for a 16.9 rear we used the 15.5 rims and the front's went to a 24 inch tire but can't remember the width.
This combination was worked out by the Russian factory techs in the U.k with a proper chart, I have one here but can't find it.
This was also before the 13.6 20 tires and rims came in on later tractors. ours runs 16.9 and the 13.6 fronts to keep the ratio right.

Hi
That tire combo works I fix a couple 825's the same here.
The other thing to watch is the different tire makers seem to have different tire heights/ rolling radius dimensions. 2 different tires by the same company might be similar. but put that up against a firestone the same sizes they could be 2" taller or shorter. I need to find my Belarus factory rolling radius chart then you can work it out right and know.
Regards Robert

I will have to ask my Dad. As I recall, the new model year had the bigger tires on it, and as part of the purchase he asked them to switch them to the large size. I am going by memory, and I am not known for that! I do know he has not had any driveline problems in the almost 1600 hours that are on the tractor. It is just time to replace the fronts and I found some 9.5 really reasonable. Look like new, and I can buy the pair for $150.00 or possibly less. And the only time I have the front end locked in is for snow removal.
