Here's a few shots of new tractors for Christmas back in the day. Me with my new Oliver 88,then me and Dad with my new John Deere 620 a year later.

were those the days or what? I wish that I could still get a charge out of Christmas like that..I probably could if I thought My grandchildren were as appreciative as I was at that age.

I had this one restored 20-25 years ago. It had a few holes in it where I had customized it with a few options that weren't exactly factory. Back then we did with them what they were intended for. We played with them to no end.

I've been told I fell off his Oliver 66 and landed on my head. I guess he thought he'd better get me something that was closer to the ground. lol

Your post brought back a memory for me. I was born early Christmas morning and my older brother was 3 years old. Mom and Dad left him with Mom's parents when they left for the hospital. They called Grandma and Granddad and said you have another grandson. They woke my brother up to tell him he had a new baby brother and all he said was( Did I get my John Deere tractor?) Chris

I remember getting JD tractors and implements, but don't know if it was for Christmas. I had a manure spreader, a plow, disc, drag and I think a combine. All made out of metal.

I liked going to the farmall dealer with dad, seemed like it took years to convince him I needed a pedal tractor, finally got an h or an m for Christmas, don't remember which model it was but it had the open space grill and smooth rear tires, always hated the rear tires cause they didn't have the tractor bar tread and my older brother wired a big old car horn to the grill and I beat it off with a hammer along with a couple bars out of the grill.

Rrlund ,Do you still have that 88 pedal? It's worth quite a bit today.I have a old H IH and a 400 Case I restored

Really nice old pictures. I remember Christmas being like that. Got a toy you had to make work without batteries or power cords. Push and pull toys. Then I got my first bicycle. Then I was the stuff. Best Christmas's ever.
Thanks for sharing.

Must be a ghost in there ? I doubt it was taken with the same camera ? but it is also blurry just like the original ?

My Aunt worked at an IH dealership back in the 50's so for Christmas in 1955 she gave me a Farmall 400 pedal tractor I rode it to death and then I gave it to my cousin (aunt's daughter) when she came along. It was unintentionally sold at my Aunt's auction back in 1989 when she moved to a new house. The buyer restored the 400 and my aunt bought it back at his sale.Aunt died this past March and my
cousin gave me the 400 back.So I told her daughter she'd better get busy so I could give it to her kids(LOL)

I had an AC pedal tractor. I also had a 620 JD toy tractor. Mlne had a 3 pt hitch and matching 4 bottom plow. Literally plowed up a lot of "farm land" in moms garden with that 620 and plow. Had A 400 Farmall with a 3 bottom pull type also. Used to push the tractors ahead with my left hand while I used my right hand on the plows to get enough weight on them to actually cut into the ground and turn furrows.

Frame warpage seemed to be a problem with both plows. (chuckle!) Used to pick up finger nail sized stones around the garden to get enough weight piled onto the disc harrow to work the plowed ground. Pop always joked that if he could work up as nice a seed bed with his tractors as I did with my tractors he'd be a happy man.

This one had a 3 point. A few years later Dad got me a 3010 with a 3 point and gave me a 4 bottom mounted plow for that. He told me he bought the plow for the 620 but he didn't think it would pull it. LOL

Today xmas only lasts about 30 mins, till MR and MRS Santa get tired of the noise and then put away for a day or so or the early teens go back to TEXTING or the SCREEN box. Hell our Xmases lasted till spring, will never forget. Its to bad as CHILDREN today will never know what we had.

I got a 20 series for my 3d Christmas from my gr.pa. Like all other farm boys I put it to use in the garden area. Had an uncle who was creative and made me a disk, field digger of sorts, wagon and s. spreader. One day that spring gr.pa came in from the field for lunch and fuel. I parked my tractor behind his, which he didn't know. 90 minutes later farming stopped and we went to town to buy me a new tractor. Uncle took parts from the smashed tractor and made me duals and a T trailer to pull my brother around on. Had that tractor till I was a jr in high school and our house burned. Someone came into the place between getting the fire out at 2am and sun rise and took it with many other things that barely survived the fire.
