Identify part

This part is off of a Farmall M. I took the tractor apart a year ago and am now trying to put it together. This part was among the bolts from the front of the engine. I cannot find where it goes or identify what it is. I have a parts book and have looked through it to no avail. I would like to put this where it belongs so I don't have to tear down again to put it in. Thanks for your help.

It look like an alignment stud that screws into a casting to align it to another one. I don't think they are critical as I have had tractors where they were missing, but I am not sure.

it is the alignment stud to help getting it back together after a split-- goes between the bell housing and the engine -- seen a ton of them in my day -- Roy

That blot/pin would increase the shear load on the bell housing. Definitely should be used in the proper place.

If a 5/8 coarse thread bolt fits the threads it goes through the steel back plate on engine and into the clutch housing. If a 3/4 nut fits it goes in the back of center housing into the transmission housing. Don't remember the size that goes in the belt pulley drive housing.
Noticed you mention engine. One hole in rear plate for the pin is above the left frame rail and the other below the right frame rail. Smooth part goes in. Line steel plate hole with hole in clutch housing.
