Air filters

I needed a new air filter for my 9600 Ford, so I called New Holland $146, then I called O'Reilly, $118, got on line to some Baldwin dealers $86, got online to the Fleet Service in K.C. $64. That was last night. My friend that was helping me check all this out works at a Case dealership and he checked on his cost this morning, I was at O'Reilly getting some things and approached them about price matching, they said they would so I got the filter for $64 after I left my friend calls and said his dealership handled Baldwin filters, his price $54 so I had him get me one. The point I am trying to make here is, I am not going to buy any of these high ticket items any more without doing my home work. All these outfits are playing us hard working folks for fools and I am tired of it!!!!!

Yip gota be careful sometimes you call the dealer and they are cheaper than aftermarket parts then you think well they were good on the last part I'll just get this from them to and that's when u get taken for a ride .

Have you tried FleetFilter? They sell NAPA filters (Wix) at less than half the price. Spend over $200 and get bigger discounts. I spent $784 with them a couple of months ago...should be good to go for 10 years or more!

Animal I agree 110% A few days ago Colin King told how the rubber injector seals for his 172 diesel were going to be $29.90 each from CNH. I went on ebay and found them for $27.90 for the set of four. The manufactures don't want the business for anything over ten years old! They don't make the parts, they buy them and sell them, and other companies do too. Does your 9600 have an air intake restriction indicator? I bet that it didn't need the filter, unless it got bent or something. When I got my 2003 International triaxle dump the Caterpillar manual said "Hey idiot! keep your mits off that air filter until the restriction indicator tells you to clean it!" So I never opened it up in two years.

It does not have an indicator, and it needed a filter bad. Like you I only check air filters on occasion, but I was full servicing this tractor for next year. I bought it last spring and was assured it was ready for field work. I won't fall for that line again either.

If you have a part number, check with RockAuto. I have bought nearly all my filters, and in most cases, for a lower price.

My 9000 has one. it threads up into a tube that threads up into the manifold. Yours must have come with one.

Seen lots of minders never move no mater how plugged the
filter is when cat starts buying my fuel and engine parts they
can tel me when I should check the air filter .
