Glow Plug Turns to Major Project

Asked my BIL to help me with figuring out why my glow plugs weren't working. We found one broken loop on the last plug. Put in all new plugs. Worked when we ran a wire from the battery to the switch feed, but didn't work when we depressed the switch. Bought a new switch. Got it installed, they don't give you a lot of extra wire to work with. Still didn't work. Other BIL stopped by. We finally figured out we had used the wrong wire to the glow indicator. Finally, wired from battery to switch and from switch to indicator. They work now. Fooled with it all day. Electrical problems are the worst.

Well they certainly are the most baffling. I worked, searched, and researched all one afternoon, and the next morning, only to discover my Ford 655A TLB had an extra flasher unit plugged into the wire harness which was supposed to have been deleted on the cab model.
It worked fine for almost 30 years, until that flasher blew. Then strange things started happening. There is a flasher built into the dash turn signal/flasher switch. One was apparently overriding the other the whole time. Or something like that?
