i need to kill all vegetation period in about 2 acres for extended time, burning is not a option but spraying is im not too thrilled with the results round up is giving any ideas? land will never be used for ag production

How long is an extended time in your mind? What types of weeds do you have? What crop do you plan to plant after the "extended time"?

Round up and 2,4-D will get most things. To really answer your question we need to know what weeds/vegetation and how long you want it clear. Plus what you want to grow there later.

Like what was mentioned, Pramitol will do it. I sprayed Pramitol in a fence line so I wouldn't have to trim the grass. The ground was bare, nothing grew. Two years later I took out the fence and that bare strip was there for three more years before it grew back in. I used a hand sprayer so I might have put it on a little thick.

thanks guys i'll get some of that pramitol ,i want everything dead grasses tumble weeds ect the period of time i would like is my lifetime, lol after that its the kid's lookout

I think you might need a private pesticide applicator permit to buy the stuff. If you don't have the permit maybe you could sweet talk one of your customers or neighbors who does have one.

ericlb, Pramital is Great stuff, If you could come across a Jug of Old... Hy-Var-X, it is a soil sterileant,, But in sand it will trans locate by wind or water and sterilize ground outside of your control area..... But Damm! It works Well!

Maybe it is just me...

I find it strange that anyone would want to purposely make a brownfield of 2 acres, for the rest of their life. Is it a gravel parking lot or something? I don't get it.

yes its a gravel machinery and truck parking lot weed barrier isnt praticle and the stuff ive tried other places doesnt keep the weeds from growing, if anything it helps them grow! roundup only seems to work for a short time, and i have other things to do besides worry about the area,

I don't have 2 acres of equipment. I got tired of weeds, so I put used free carpet up side down on the ground and put my equipment on top. At the edges I put treated 2x4's so I can run the riding mover wheels on the boards and not get carpet in mover.

Some people said it wouldn't work. Some said it would get smelly. It been down about a year and so far so good. No problems, no chemicals to get into well. Simple fix for me.

I am sure someday, I may need to pick up carpet up and get rid of any dirt that collects on it, but that too would be an easy thing to do.

machinery, loading dock for equipment, barn, semi's ect dont use it all, but it is all graveled rolled ect looks better when done, one of those jobs that just doesn't need to be one
