Kubota engine

I am replacing the head gasket on my skidsteer. When I took the exhaust manifold off and number 3 cylinder exhaust port was half plugged with carbon. What would cause this? I sent the head out to be hot tanked and have the valves ground and the injectors were sent out to be tested

If it has piston wash (Google images of it) the issue is probably rings. If none, and a pretty clean combustion chamber (like the others), it is likely a worn exhaust valve guide, Ir failed valve seal. If the cylinder is also coked up, the issue could be the intake valve guide/stem seal. Jim

My Kubota experience tells me you have a weak injector on that cylinder. Injector is doing what we call following or not firing hard. Not missing but not firing right on time. Will cause the black stuff to build up there in the exhaust.
