140 International Oil Presure

My 1970 140 International has a Oil Pressure gauge which only show in the RED or in the white area. I would like to replace this gauge with a oil gauge which shows PSI. But before I do that what PSI should I expect? At low rpm's 10psi or
more? At half throttle 30 to 45 PSI or what?

IIRC, they run a little higher than the older tractors with similar engines, maybe 45 to 60 at high idle.

NOT sure what to expect at slow idle.

It was common for the older C-113 and C-123 engines to warp the oil pump cover, causing a drop in oil pressure, especially at idle, and AFAIK your 140 has the same setup, so that's the first place I'd look if oil pressure is disappointing.

I use a OP gauge for a Ford 8N... All my Farmalls (100 & 140) have good OP other than it takes about 5 sec for it to come up on the gauge...

Yes quite a few of the IH tractors would warp the bottom plate on the oil pumps. You can take if off and lay a sheet of 200-300 grit wet/dry sand paper. Put a little oil on the sandpaper and rub the plate over the sandpaper until all the marks come out and the plate is making full contact on the sandpaper. This is one way if you don't want to spend the money for the plate or new pump. You will need a gasket too which get one at your IH dealer since they are a certain thickness.
