need to know value of broken magneto part

Need to know the value of the cover over the
spark-advance on an E4A magneto.

We purchased an E4A magneto that was in good
condition...

However, it was not well-cushioned inside the box
and the lever/arm of the cover that goes over the
spark-advance was broken off during shipping
(it's a cast piece).

Seller is willing to refund part of the price...
so we need to know what it would cost to replace
that particular part.

Thanks if you can help out with pricing
information. We want to be fair to the seller,
but we also want the price reduced by the value
of the broken part.
 
You an intact unit. They broke it. It is now non-functional/junk.

File a claim for what you paid for it.

that is the little lever that hold the cover on? if you cant find one i might have one and can send it to you.
 
To get the correct value call a magneto repair shop. Also how much labor to install?
 
However, it is the responsibility of the seller to package it properly. The carrier cannot be responsible for poor packaging.
 
No, but thanks. It's the cover itself - might be
called the spark advance cover (have to grab the
manual out of the shop).
 
Thanks for the replies.

The seller is very willing to refund the cost or even to let us return the magneto for a full refund. He apologized for the packaging - said sometimes he has a helper and they probably didn't realize that it needed to be tightly packed so the magneto couldn't shift inside the box.

We do want the magneto - so we're just trying to come to a fair conclusion for us and the seller. I'll call a magneto repair shop.
