Deliver bride to church with her tractor

I'm really annoyed. If my picture shows up, that was my younger daughter's wedding earlier this year. Older daughter being married this saturday, and we contacted the school where the Church and reception area is in regard to where to hide the tractor from people coming as to make it a surprise. They showed us a good position behind a locked gate. My wife chased up today re getting the gate opened, and they now say we can't do it without insurance. For crying out loud. Its around 75yards and on flat ground! I'm sick of this world these days with every person being so risk averse and not using common sense. Would have been great, Daughter's tractor is a Farmall Cub and the colour of her bridesmaid dresses were chosen to match the tractor!
Aggghhhhhh

Sorry, this time.

Hi Rex

Feel your pain, should be a fun safe activity carried out by people with common sense. Hope you find a solution and your daughter has a wonderful day. Should be more tractors at weddings

The person that said that it could be done talked to someone who said "not without insurance".

As they say in the real estate business, there is always "an Uncle Louie" that will put the kibosh on the deal once they have time to think about it.

My advice is carry on with your previous plan, might have to make a few adjustments for parking. It will make for good conversation after the wedding that we can all make changes and still succeed with previous plans. All things are beautiful, bride, andbride's tractor/trailer. Cheers, Murray

You should be able to get event insurance for that one day to cover the need for the wedding.Check on line for ones that sell it. Shop around I use theeventhelper.com last year for a two week event.

I can understand their concern there was a hayride in Maine I think it was awhile back that turned out real bad many injured and maybe a fatality. You can bet the lawsuits will fly.So why would they put themselves at risk for no benefit?
I turn down people all the time that want to use my farm especially the mountain land for varied activities no benefit to me and lots of liability.

Yup, it *SHOULD* be a safe activity carried out on flat ground by people with common sense.

How does the facility know that you are people with common sense, and not just a bunch of wild yahoos that shouldn't be allowed to walk upright?

Better still, how do YOU know nothing bad will happen despite your best efforts and all the common sense in the world?

I'm sure your answer is, "Oh but I'll take full responsibility." That works until you're incapacitated. I'll bet you don't have the means to support yourself if you could no longer go to work and were socked with a bunch of huge medical bills and long-term care costs. Insurance only goes so far. After that, who's going to pay for it?

The long and short of it, despite your best efforts and best intentions and copious common sense, things can spin out of control in an instant.

Yep, sure, I agree, but just imagine someone really or imaginatively gettng hurt, and talking later, and someone else mentions a lawyer?????
Now it starts.

Better check my farm insurance only covers the tractors and equipment doing a farming activity for myself, doesn't cover doing custom work either have to buy an add on to get that coverage.

Just switched my insurance because even though the State Farm agent said the tractors and equipment were covered, anything with an engine isn't covered under a homeowners policy unless declared and listed on the policy.
