along Ohio Rt 46 south of US6, I spotted a right hand unloading silage wagon.

It was a Coby brand. never saw a right hander. Always thought left hand (or rear unloading for bunks) was it.

Learn something new everyday.

Maybe it was built for those that drive on the other side of the road. Maybe so he didn't have to drive into the wind. Maybe the Factory Screwed up. LOl

When our Navy ship was in dry dock in Long Beach way back, a shipyard electrician showed us a biueprint he had to work from.

It was a part that needed to be knurled. The draftsmen apparently couldn't spell and after several tries to spell knurled he wrote "Aw forget it and grind it smooth".

Of course that was a joke blueprint, but the electrician thought it was hilarious.

Back in the mid-1960' New Idea built a forage wagon that would unload from the right or left. Didn't the wagons that Oliver marketed offer the same feature?

We have a right hand unload that we use to feed with , but don't ask me the brand wright now as i can not remember all i can tell ya it is yellow and black .

We've got 2 older Meyers that can go either way. Lots of those in the area, as well as other brands. Some unload to the right only, others go both ways. All brands. Miller, Gruett (local mfg), Heubner (another local and now long gone mfg), Meyers, and a few others are most common.

Left hand unloaders outnumber right hand unloaders about 10 to 1. Most makes had either available; some farm barn/silo setups could only use a right hand unloader but the lefties were definetly handier to work with. Ben

Was it a Grove wagon?

We have a Grove. The last forage wagon on the farm... It has a rubber belt for unloading and it will switch from right to left, but because of the layout on the farm, we always used it on the right side to get up against the silo and be able to drive back out headed toward the barn ramp so you didn't have a full wagon pushing you down the steeper slope.
