Last summer I bought an Old White 2-62 backhoe/loader. The boot on the gear shift lever was shot and the PO had put a piece of inner tube with a hole over the gear shift lever and clamped it on. I replaced the boot. Put it in the shed and forgot about it. Friday warmed up a little and Saturday got into the 50's. Happened to think maybe I should check the rear end for water, so I put a clamp light under the rear end Friday and didn't get to it until this afternoon. I drained almost 6 gallons of water out of the rear end and transmission. That might have been enough to break something. One more item on the list of things the moneypit is going to need. Chris

Same thing happened with my 1555 when I bought it and new boot was one of the first things I purchased. Did you still want that extra hydraulic tank for a 77? Greg

Chris I hope nothing is damaged inside from the water.

Any updates on your brother??? I have wondered how much of his stuff was/is wasting away from storage issues.

Almost every unrestored antique tractor I've bought has had 5 gallons or more of water in the rear end...

yep ,same here ,,.far as I know nuthin harmed ...but could be reason brakeseals were bad on some of my ol cases that come wandering up the lane ,,nik in ky has some unique ways to keep water out ,,hose clamp and plastic jugs ,or iner tubes .. just get creative , you don't have to spend bux

That's the first thing I do when working on a tractor that has set for awhile, sure get a chuckle when it takes awhile to get to the oil. chris

I haven't been over there since last summer, not sure how Lee is getting along inside the shed either. Things are slowing down fast, I need to go see Jeff this week. Thanks for asking. Chris

That was a bad thing about the Oliver 770 and 880 models the little boots on the hydraulic levers would dry rot let water in and the water would bust the pump.
