1973 IH 544. I had the head rebuilt and the injectors rebuilt. Now the injectors won't seat properly. They seem to be too long now by about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Any thoughts concerning what could be the problem?
Thanks

Hi Sutton, are you saying the injectors
protrude too far out of the head?

They protrude into the head but my I&T shop
manual does not give a spec on the protrusion
distance into the combustion chamber on top of
the piston.

The I&T shop manual gives a warning to be
careful not to set the head on a flat surface
or damage may occur to injector tips.

I at first thought so but then noticed that a bit of pitting is evident. I doubt that the company would have replaced with used parts. Thanks

No the protrusion seems ok. The body of the injector hits bottom before the top seats at the head and stud nuts. Thanks

Are you saying the studs or caps screws are not long enough as of course you realize the upper part of the injection nozzle does not contact the head.
