Photos of where I live in Wales

This is the area of Dinas on the southwest coast of Wales, a view over Dinas Head & Island Farm from Dinas Mountain

The mainland is on the left, there is marshy istmus in centre and Dinas Head & Island Farm on right. The Head rises from sea level at the istmus up 465 feet above sea level. Island Farm is 300 acres cultivated. The beach in the middle foreground is Cwm yr Eglwyws

The land 3 miles in the background is the port of Fishguard where ferries go over to Southern Ireland

Cwm yr Eglwyws is tiny hamlet of 20 houses, most are rich people's holiday homes. I live 1/2 mile inland in Dinas Cross village

This is the ruined church and churchyard next to the beach

Beautiful pictures. We once traveled by rail from Chester to Holyhead, but it was in the middle of the night, so we didn't see much.

Thanks for posting.

Brilliant!

That reminds me of the views I see of Cornwall on Doc Martin! Cwm yr Eglwys does remind me a bit of Port Isaac. I would love to visit all of Great Britain and Ireland some day.

I'm glad I get to watch Doc Martin here in the U.S. I have seen some great farm views and there always seems to be a Ford tractor somewhere!

Wow, is that beautiful. It doesn't look like a 300
foot dropoff keeps the farmers from trying to get in
that last row just like they do here. :D
I reckon there's just a wee bit of wind up there,
too.
What a gorgeous place!!

Thanks for posting those wonderful pictures !!
. I'm told my last name , Powell , comes from
Wales , Good to see what my ancestors saw !

Beautiful pix. Ok, now for the nitty-gritty questions: What does an acre of farmland cost over there? Is there any that ever comes up for sale? What kind of crops are grown on that island?

Also, over here in the US, that property would have been developed a long time ago into condos. Are there laws that keep that from happening?

My mother used to ride her bicycle all over Wales in the 30's. I have been to London and Wendover, but would like to go back and see Wales and Scotland.

Beautiful country but I would not like living that close to the water. It reminds me somewhat of Cornwall in the Masterpiece series Poldark. The new series is to out in 2015.
