What were they thinking putting the clean grain elevator and radiator screen that high.

Dad had the 45 hi-Lo I learned to combine on, it was too tall.... Think he modified the screen to fit in the shed.

Nice pics!

Well the radiator screen was up that high to keep it out of dust/chaff better. The clean grain elevator was tall so that there was room for a scour clean system. Plus the combine in the picture does not have a cab. On the cab models the elevator is below the cab. So it is not as high as it looks in the non cab models.

Thanks for the pics. Those older machines were so much more simple but still did a good job.

The tall elevator was probably for the Scourclean. The tall rad screen was an attempt to get it above the dust. The rad screen stayed reasonably clean on windy days but not so much on calm days.

Looking at the screen, looks like it needed to be higher. ;)

Few had sheds that tall around here in the 50s and early 60s.

But then, we still chase low shed with tall equipment to this day..... Relative can just barely fit his pull type sprayer in the 12 foot shed. Never mind a real machine.....

Slide or not they are very good pictures. Thanks for posting. Did you have the slides made into pictures?

Oats don't itch, you should combine barley! My dad used to raise barley on new ground, on a good year it would make malting barley, a premium price!

Nice pictures. My uncle used to combine for us with a 45 round back. He got that one after he had that old big hump back International. I don't remember the model on that one,but it looked like a possum with its back in the air.

Pop used to plant a 2/3 oats/1/3 barley mix. Still get the heebie-jeebies just thinking about combining that crap! Almost as bad as fiberglass insulation!

Dad and Grandpa would square bale the straw. I wasn't real excited about putting those bales in the barn.

My dad had one like that and uncles did also with 12' platforms. Had to watch wires going through small town of Dewitt. The good OLD days.
