Cat. 2 3pt. Smaller Tractors?

I have been looking for a smaller compact tractor under 50hp. Most are Cat. 1, & I really need one to move through a barn with low ceilings, & maneuver out Cat. 2 3pt. equipment. Really for the most, the smaller the better. Curious as to what people have out there preferably.

Massey 165 came with cat 1 ends, but the book shows you could put cat 2 ends on the arms.

My IH 484 (42 hp, D179) came with Cat 2, but I don't know if they all did. Mine was sold as an orchard tractor with 9.00x10 fronts and 18.4 x 16.1 rears, so the dealer may have ordered Cat 2 for sprayer hook-up, etc.

I changed the ball ends on a 6140 AC. Rural King had them. They had both holes in them. Kinda slick. Top link will be ok. Wasn't any problem getting arms that wide. Vic

Is there a reason you couldn't cut the cat 1 ends off the arms and re-weld cat 2 ends on? You can buy the ends for less than 10 bucks a piece at ASC, TSC, or most agriculture supply places. That way you can buy what you want and just change it over.

I have a Massey 231 that you can pull a clip and remove the ends to either cat 1 or cat 2.

I have a 5103 Deere. Cat 2. I converted all my cat 1 & 2 implements to Landpride's Quick hitch, makes it real easy.

I'm pretty sure my 2005 Kubota MX5000 is Cat 2. It's 52hp, and quite low with the ROP flipped down. I have to put bushings in the balls of the 3pt, for most implements, so I think it's Cat 2.

Bye for now,

A year ago I bought a low hour NH TT60A. It's not a heavy one, but it is a cat. II hitch. The thing that sticks up by far on it is me! The exhaust goes down the side of the engine.

Yanmar 1300 D-A - 2 cyl. Diesel MFWD , 3 speed + high/low range manual trans, 3 speed PTO, 4 foot wide (gets into really tight places). Basically it's a small landscape tractor.

Mines a 1976 with only 510 original hours on it, came with a NEW Front Loader, NEW ROPS & seat belt, NEW 3-point Hitch, and NEW Box Scraper.

Might be considered more of a 7 ft ceiling, small utility rather than a compact, but an Allis Chalmers 5040 is 40hp and coverts from cat 1 to cat 2 by flipping the lift arms end for end. I've owned one for probably 12 years or so. Tough, cheap to operate, come in 8 or 12 gears, parts fairly easy to find and sell in the $3000 range.

I converted my old MF 65 to cat 2 (new lift arm ends cost $60). Tractor is about 5 ft high, backs under a 7 ft carport easily.
