M-man was right the ford dealer won't do anything until it fails completely. Bring it in the next time the light is on they said. My wife brought it in yesterday and they said it was fine at that time. When I connect my tester to it, it looks ok for a few minutes then it starts to fluctuate.

Turn on all of your lights, put on the electric defroster if you have one, turn on the A/C and the heat, plug in one of those electric coolers into the lighter anything else that's electric turn on, then go for a little cruise, just enough to get into high gear and lock up the torque converter ...say 35 or 40 MPH, your alternator will quit. Don't buy new Fords anymore, not until they partner with Charmin and print their warranties on toilet paper so they'll be of some use. This attitude is inspired by my last F-150.. the one with with a leaky rear window (their all that way there's nothing we can do about it) and the mighty 258 V-7 (no they all run like that , there's nothing wrong all 4.6 V-8's spark knock above 25% throttle) Wrote Ford, they didn't do much. Don't buy Fords anymore after about 7 years the selling dealer got this bright idea to call me up every 3 or 4 months to try to sell me another one, by bragging about how they screwed me on the last one. Still haven't figured out that business plan. Have a Dodge now, more things go wrong, but it's a lot easier to get fixed. I speculate it would be easier to get a warranty replacement engine in my Dodge than to get a seat belt fixed on the Ford. The Dodge starts, doesn't spark knock, the seats stay dry if you leave it out in the rain (as long as the windows are rolled up), the seat belts work, the cruise control works and it runs an all cylinders.
