My sore leg

My left lower leg has been hurting for a while now. The wife talked me into going to the doctor. Doctor was checking my lower left leg, and asked me if I knew my left calf was larger than my right. All I could answer was no. I got to thinking today about what she asked. When I am on my tractors I usually always turn to the left using the left brake. My MF 231 has poor brakes, and I am usually pushing very hard to turn. My JD has good brakes, and I can turn on a dime, but still using my left leg. Then there is the clutch left leg again. I wonder if am building up more muscle in the left leg, because it gets used more? Any thoughts? Doctor did a ultrasound no blood clots. Lower leg still hurts. Must just be old age.Stan

An old family friend has been driving a log truck since he was 14, he is 67? I think 67.. His left leg/calf is easily, noticeably larger around. He says it is because of three things:

1. Clutch Pedal
2. First step climbing into truck with left leg
3. Left leg is used for leverage when tightening binders

Humans adapt to their surroundings! I guess that I my "best" explanation! Bryce

My Dad was noticeably larger on one of his shoulders, enough that when he took a physical with a new Doctor they would comment and try to figure out why or ask if he'd had polio as a kid. The reason was he worked on a garbage truck from the time he was a kid until his early 20's, this was in the old days when they hosted the can up on their shoulder and carried it to the truck, this was also BEFORE you put your own cans on the curb, yep you left you can out somewhere behind you house or garage and they walked back to it to empty it.

As a carpenter/builder my dominate side(right) is noticably larger from swinging a hammer, using all tools and carrying everthing from concrete block to sheetrock, shingles, wood ect ect.

I had a damaged left knee joint and a MF 35D I really liked had a stiff clutch spring. Finally had to get rid of it for that reason.

If your knee or hip joint gets to hurting also they make fluid injections for the joint that helps to rebuild the cartilage and requires nothing more than several office visits if severe. I got mine fixed with one. Hobbled into the doc's office on crutches and walked out about 15 minutes later waving them. Folks in the lobby thought I was nuts.....I was.....with glee. Been over 12 years and no problems.

When I was driving bus the district started the switch to automatics. They got tired of putting hips in all of the old farm wives. They used easy lift clutches in them but a school bus still has a pretty long throw on it. Especially when some of those buses had wood blocks screwed to the clutch pedal already. My knee bothers me a lot more during harvest than any other time.

Left foot on the brakes??? Any tractor I have driven, old or new, has both brake pedals on the right and I'm not swinging my left leg over there to push either of them.
Doing front end loader work with a lot of back and forth driving will stress my left knee some after a few hours. Damaged my right knee from years of handling small square bales using my knee to help push the bales up onto the trailer. Bought a round baler and that helped a lot.

That's what I was just trying to figure out. My tractors brakes are both on the right, side by side.

Now my little dozer has left and right brakes.

Can you tell me what the injections were that you received?

Were they HGH or hyaluronic acid injections or something else?

We are desperately seeking alternatives to hip replacement for Gary.

Thanks in afvance

The Dr's name is Jack B. Thomas, Board Certified Orthopedic surgeon. He developed the material either alone or in partnership. He used to, maybe still does, take care of the Dallas Cowboys Team.

Google Jack B. Thomas, Orthopedic surgeon for his www. Be sure to include his title as there are other Jacks out there and he is not the one that's 92.
