Part of DEERE 4020 throttle linkage... they hung that double balljoint in the air and assembled rest of the tractor around it!

I had one of those go up back years ago, and know what you mean.

The old dealership had one of the best parts men I have ever known. I called up there, and told Lavere I needed a throttle link and he said he had them in stock. So, I went up, and he had it on the counter. I looked at it, and told him the one he had was too long. He said it wasn't- that's what the book called for. So, I pocketed it, went home and pulled the old one off. Sure as the nose on my face, it was too long, so back up the road ten miles I went. I tossed both of them on the counter, and Lavere took a look at the offending parts. Only then did he go into the parts book, and started looking a bit sheepish. Turns out, when Mother Deere went and started making side consoles, that particular link became shorter by about an inch. Only time that man had to choke on what he came up with- he was never wrong. And, this was the first one on a newer tractor that he'd had to replace.....

Your post made me laugh. Two days to change a bearing. Most people wouldn't catch what you mean. Kinda like saying I spent a week with my mother-in-law last night.

I have rebuilt ones that looks worse than that one.
If you can weld, its easy to fix the ball joints and they are better than new.
