Tractor Related electrical problem

I have an older Lincoln Navigator which I use as a truck to haul my tractors around. Now, is there a replaceable module that controls the remote actions??The remotes (one is new) worked but in August they both quit. I changed batteries but no cigar. Took it to an auto electrical place and $175 next day it worked for a while. Now it has quit again and I found out they actually did little but hook up a scanner and then reprogram the remotes. I have no faith in this stuff so IO want to find out what is actually doing the function Thanks Henry

Which remotes are you having trouble with Henery? Rocket launchers, winch, oil slick dispenser,,,,what?

If you open the owner's manual, it tells you how to reprogram the CAR to the REMOTE. That is, of course, if you still have the manual. BTW, there IS a module for the remotes.

If you don't have a manual, here is the procedure. Very simple.

Sit in the car. Turn the key on and off until the door locks actuate, and then leave the key in the "ON" position. Then, hit any button on the remote. The door locks will lock and unlock if the remote is working and the module receives the signal. Then turn off the key. Again, the locks will lock and unlock rapidly. Programming complete.

Yeah, and replacing that module is not something you can do yourself because of all the computer and security interlocks. It's not going to be cheap to have a dealer do it either.

Try reprogramming the key fobs yourself. Sometimes it takes a couple attempts to make them "stick."
