JOHN DEERE REAR DISK WEIGHTS FOR 4020

We have 4 flat old style 140# flat weights we took off a 3020 with 38" wheels. We want to use these on our 4020 with 30" wheels. As you know they will hit the lug nuts since the weights are 24" in diameter. But that is what we have and we need the weight on the 4020. So we thought if we buy 1 pair of "30 inch" 120#, wheel weights, that would provide a spacer to get us out beyond the lugs. That part works and the bolt holes in the weights match up, but the inside hole does not. The center in the 120#, part number R61727, is larger than the 140# weights. Any suggestion on making these work together. This is going to be a working tractor so what ever we do they need to be durable. This is my son's first tractor, I'm really trying to keep the cost down.

Hey, that is pretty clever.

I guess I don't know how the mis-match of the center holes causes an issue or what the miss-match looks like to comment. Could you post some pictures so we can more clearly see the issue. I am assuming the goal is to be able to still adjust the wheel spacing without removing the weights and have a nice clean looking installation.

My only comment is the obvious drilling/cutting but I expect you are looking for something more clever then that. Of course the other idea is to trade the weights for the size you need.

If not there already, put a ROPS on that tractor. You cannot be too careful, especially with the safety of your son.

Thank you Paul for your response. Problem is, the lip on the center of the smaller overal weight does not line up with the center of the overall large second weight. this prevents them from laying flat against each other.

I once put wts from a 8600 Ford on an M farmall.
Made an 'adapter plate'. Just took a 1/4" steel
plate.Cut the same diameter as the round wts. Then
cut/drilled 2 sets of holes. One to match the tractor
wheel, one the match the weight.Worked till I sold
the tractor(probably 10 years). At which time I sold
em to a friend who drove Ford tractors.

By how much? I've never been around Green other than my
planter really, so not at all familiar with JD weights.

Could you cut some pipe spacers and slip them on the bolts
between weights to space things out? But I suppose that
leaves the outer weight just hanging on the rim of the pipe and
will wear loose, you would want some type of lip to hold the
weights to each other solid.....

Cut some spacers out of pipe to put over the bolts for the weight to sit on, or use a stack of washers the appropriate size.

DElta Red and Paul you are both making think about a spacer. My first thought was to try and cut the lip off the cast iron weights but I think that would be real challenge to cut. The other option you guys made me think of was a spacer plate with holes drill in to match the existing holes I use to mount the weights. This would hold the spacer in place to the first weight. Then I would need to weld a couple flat pieces of iron to the center of the first weight to match the center hole on the second weight. (To serve as a new "lip" so to speak) sounds like a lot of work. I not sure if Deer made a small 21 1/2" in diamenter weight for the 3020's and 4020's 30" wheels.
