My mother's younger brother played with this tractor. He was killed in WWII when his B-17 was shot down over southern Germany. This was in April of 1944. I was three month old at the time. He is buried in St. Avoid, France.

That is a valuable keepsake for your family! You should somehow make a note that tells the story for future generations.

A guy I knew (now deceased) inherited a fiddle that belonged to his grandfather. It had a mouse hole in it and needed some other minor repairs, and he took it to a reputable repairman. When he came back to pick it up, the repairman was grinning from ear to ear. Inside the fiddle was a note, signed by his grandfather, telling that he had purchased the fiddle in Alabama during the Civil War, and had carried and protected it all during his time in the war. The note also said that the mouse hole was in it when he bought it. He played the old fiddle in our gospel group, and his "fiddle story" was always a highlight for the crowd. Without the note, it would have been just another old fiddle.
