My father flew over a lot of Europe and didn't stop either.

I heard once of a German pilot landing at one of the major airports in the UK. The tower asked him to convers in English.

The German pilot groused, "I'm a German, flying a German airplane for a German airline. Why do I have to converse in English?"

Over the radio came an immaculate British accent, "Because you lost the bloody war!"
