Question on '05 Dodge Grand Caravan.......

A couple of weeks ago, I screwed up and left the ignition switch turned on and ran the battery all the way down.

After charging the battery, everything worked as usual. Then a day or two later it dawned on me that the horn doesn't chirp when I hit the "Lock" button on the remote. The locks lock and unlock normally, and the lights flash, just the horn doesn't chirp.

A year ago, it was the other way around. The horn would chirp, but the locks wouldn't lock. That time I had to pull a particular fuse, wait a couple of minutes, and replace it. Locks have worked fine ever since, only I forgot which fuse it was.

It's not a big enough deal to pay a dealer to reprogram something, but I was just curious if anyone had a simple solution.

on my overhead console,on my 06,i think I can go into the menu and turn it off and on. the van is not here right now,so I am not sure.

Depends on the option package. My 05 doesn't have that option. The owner's manual directs you to that IF the vehicle has that option.

My Chevy S10 Blazer doesn't chirp the horn until I push the lock button on my remote 2 times. The lights blink the first and second time I push the button. So maybe try pushing your lock button 2 times consecutively.

I fully agree. The horn chirp is EXTREMELY annoying - especially if you are standing close to it.
Has everybody forgotten that there is a lock/unlock button on EACH front door? Or is it just a matter of announcing to the world that "I locked my doors?" Or perhaps just showing off that one has a "high tech" vehicle?
I guess that locking the doors in the old fashioned (read SILENT) way is outdated.
