Digging through Dad's stuff today!!

My Father is going to be in the "retirement" home from now on. He is happier there too. He can act like the ladies man he thinks he used to be. LOL His mind is actually better. I think being around people and eating better is helping him. He is in a better mood than he has been in years.

I finally got it through my siblings heads that Dad's house is actually MINE.

My younger sister was wanting to live there in the worst way. I did not want any hassles with her over it. Meaning did not really want to rent to her. Thought I had came up with a fool proof way to keep her out. I told her I would only rent it to her with six months rent in advance. Some how she came up with the money. DARN!!!!!LOL

So my Brother and I went through Dad's stuff. Most of it was nothing special just cheap older furniture. Told my other siblings to pick out anything they wanted. That cleaned out most of it other than some junk.

My Father had the garage stuffed full and parked his car outside. So we cleaned/sorted that out today.

Found some of his hand tools but not many where left. He had sold them over the years as he needed money.

In the very back of all this "stuff" was an old electric motor. I got to looking at it wondering why he had kept it. The darn thing was not just an electric motor. It is a 3 PH rotary converter. Why or when he got it none of us have a clue. I even drove into town and asked him if he could remember having it. He said he never had one that he could remember.

So I brought it to the house. I will clean it up and see if it still works. It is a factory built one. Phase-a-matic brand. Rated for 10 HP. It is heavy!!!

So I may be able to try out some of the machine tools I got last weekend.

Congratulations on such a great find. They are still making converters, and actually make some really good ones.

I've currently got one of their old 3 HP (max load) converters running my smaller stuff, and my home made one running the larger stuff. As soon as I get the chance I'm going to put in a much larger one, also from Phase-a-Matic, that I got from Dad's shop. It will handle something like 20 HP total. With it I can get our old 7.5 HP continuous run compressor set up, and also run anything else I want at the same time. Now that will be nice.
Phase a matic

On that whole "ladies man" thing. I have heard that since the introduction of certain drugs, the incidences of VD in nursing homes has skyrocketed. Can't attest to the truth of this personally, but (in a warped kind of way) it does give one a little peace of mind regarding the future.

Good luck with the sister. If that ends well it will be really amazing. Sounds like your father did not leave too much. That is a good thing. You and your brother will have a better relationship.
