Follow up on CNG vs Propane.

Thanks for all the replies. I was just curious and you guys gave me a ton of info. No I wont be doing it, like I said I was just curious. I didn't realize LNG needs that low of temps to stay liquified. Thanks again.

We wish it were more practical. They flare off so much gas from the wells and it's wasteful.

If the filling infrastructure could be put in place then cng would work for city and shorter trip use. DFW airport has their buses and utility vehicles on cng and it works well, but none of that stuff goes far from home!

Ford, and maybe Dodge, too, has a pretty good deal with their CNG pickups. Big tank, but you can fill it at night at home, and have a couple hundred miles range, then it automatically switches to gasoline as the CNG runs out. Filler pumps for home use were ~$500 last I checked. In theory, there is no reason the computer couldn't handle metering LPG out of the same tank it uses for CNG since it has to meter gasoline as well but I don't know if anyone sets one up that way.
