storing tires

we recently picked up a set of near new radial
tires 18.4.38 on a set of Massey Ferguson rims
what is the best way to store them

On my tractor. :)

All seriousness, I would store them on their sides with a little air, but no where near full psi. I would keep them in a barn, out of the Sun, weather and moisture.

Well, it depends!

If they are mounted on rims, then I would put 2-3 lbs in them, and just lay them down on their sides, somewhere COMPLETELY out of the elements of the weather, no sun/rain/direct heat/ etc.

If they are just the plain tires, I would probably keep them standing up. I have seen what little tires will do if left on their sides, and that can make for a real challenge mounting!!

I have 6 11.2 x 28 tires, all are just the tires, have them side to side INSIDE my little tractor parts shed... Seems to look work pretty well!

The only downside is that they take up so much space!! Anyone need some 11.2 x 28's????? Bryce

Agree that ozone is your #1 killer and ground contact the second. Either flat or standing as said with some air to maintain shape, off the ground, out of the sun and arc welder. I store my small tires in my tornado shelter.

SD Pete,

I'll second the under roof idea. Rafter area to be exact.

For some odd reason, the tires stored there have no issue with the heat, but do not see weather or sunshine.

In fact, a tire guy said it'd be better for the tires to have the heat. I don't know why though.
