I rebuilt my gravely 12 hp commercial 5645 with the k301 engine got it all back together and no fire at the points or plug where should i start looking

You didn't post much info. They used at least 3 ignition systems. Since you say it has points, that narrows it to two.

I just put a new set of points in one and they have a protective film that needs removed before they'll work.

Is there an aftermarket conversion for electronic
ignition? Something simple like the ones for Briggs.
