So i got me whats left of a 806 wheatland and a farmall 806 and this winter im taking the big heaping pile of parts and building me a tractor! Im gonna use the wheatlands rearent and bell housing cause by the looks of the pedals and shift handles it didnt have many hours on it! I wanta build it to handle a 20 ft disc on hills! Its ta delete so no torque to go out! The question is what would i need to do to make the d361 run 150 to 175 horse power and run a full day like 150 horse tractor would! Yea i know i could go buy me a big tractor! But this is my project! Do i need to change bearings in the rearend? Can i put a bigger radiator for more cooling? Heavier clutch? Any thoughts will be appriecated!

Brian I am thinking a DT 407 will bolt in right where the d 361 is . Lots more you could do to that engine for cheaper horse power.

Getting 120 HP out of an 806 with a turbo is very easy and was fairly common in these parts, but 150-175 all day long is asking too much.

We had an 856 wheatland. No PTO, no nothing - only two rear remotes and a swinging drawbar. When we got rid of it the thing was still tight as could be. Is think it was because it was never used for anything but field work. No stopping and starting with a loader or three point with a blade or mower or anything. It was only used in the field and that was smoother than everywhere the 966 had to go. The wheatland rear may have more hours on it but be in better shape.

If it is an option to put the 407 in it you should do it. Those are good engines that like to work. They aren't rated more than 100 stock but you may be able to turbo it and get more. 175 is sure way out there, though. I wonder if you could get a 466 in there? The 4440 John deer I have runs a bit above 150 as it has been turned up. Stock the 466 in that tractor is 140 or so.
