If he has enough grip with his thighs to hold the saw while pulling the starting rope with both hands he would probably be strong enough to stall the chain.

friend saw worse than this once! Guy was cutting a small tree, had it notched & was working on the backcut. Unbeknowst to the cutter, a friend came up behind him to help & was pushing on the tree. Tree started to fall & the cutter quickly jerked the saw out of the cut, running full bore, right between the "helpers" legs! Didn't touch a thing!! Pants changing time all around.
