Here's one for removing rust on chrome:

Take a sheet of aluminum foil, fold it into a quarter section, dip it in a bowl of water, and rub gently on the rust spots. The rust will disappear without harming the metal. I usually use shinny side out, but I don't think it really makes a difference.

I'm big believer in dipping old cast iron carbs in toilet bowl cleaner. They will come out looking like new metal. Just make sure there is no aluminum on it when you dip it or it will cook the aluminum.
 
I've had good luck using Barkeepers Friend on chrome too. Gets it nice and shiny and stays that way for a long time.
