843 corn head.

I need to change the brass bushings in the snapping roll nose cone. Just wonder what is the easiest way? I never tried this. Not sure what to do yet. Someone suggest taking a touch and melting the brass out. But I afraid of doing that.

IH or JD corn head????

The reason I asked is the JD corn head does not used a brass bushing. THE IH corn head does.

I have removed the brass ones on a IH header by cutting a slot in them with a hacksaw blade. Then you can pull them out with a hook make on a screw driver.

Guessing that's a blind hole? I've never tried the trick myself but I've heard of packing it full of grease, then using a hammer and shaft of the appropriate size. Stick the shaft in the hole, and hit it with the hammer. The grease doesn't compress so it forces the bushing out.

I used to have the same head.

You need to beg, borrow, rent, or steal a 1"-8 threads per inch
tap.

Thread the bushing and when the tap hits the bottom of the
blind hole, just keep turning. The tap will pull the bushing with
ease.
