Waiting to see what my next tractor will be. I never keep one very long as they find a good home. No color preference, just can't be the same model. No, this isn't an ad, just wondering out loud. When I was young we had several different colors but I was too young to do more than watch them work.

Rambling Man,

Rusty Regulars are pretty neat tractors. :)

Itty-bitty tractor is next here... LOL.

We just bought a Cub Cadet 109. Runs pretty darn good and mows well - but husband is tearing into it anyway, just to make sure... or maybe just because he can. LOL.

He always likes to go through stuff and clean it up and do preventative maintenance - rather than get a bad surprise while trying to do a job with a machine. He'll also sharpen blades and paint the underside of the deck to try to keep it from deteriorating.

How does he prep the deck and what does he use that will last ten minutes in that environment?

Dad had an Oliver 66 that he always kept, but every spring he would go to Archbold and buy another tractor, use it all year and sell it in the fall.

Just clean it up real well and paint the underside
again. I wonder if marine paint would be good...
since boats sit in water all the time.

Give it a coat of Ospho and then use Rustoleum Industrial paint. Last for a long time. Marine paint these days are mostly urethanes and sold at a high price but are more brittle and apt to chip in a striking environment.

When I recondition a mower deck, I clean it good and use Ospho and when it dries I use Bedliner in a can to coat the underneath side. After it cures I spray Fluid Film and it keeps the grass from sticking to it.

Well, the N Fords have been ruled out. I'm on Grandpa's Ford in 1958.
