I was wondering if anybody has started having "the talk" with their landlords for next year. Barring a weather event we can expect commodity prices to be off substantially from where they were earlier this year. Rentals was covered in one of the farm magazines that just came and I was somewhat underwhelmed with the responses the panel of "experts" gave.

Don,t want to bust your bubble but in this part of the country I do not see rent coming down any. Too many folks running around with cash in hand trying to rent land. Just not big fields or farms like out west. Have to go to 4 counties and two states to get up 4 thousands acres. Prices will have to get a lot worse for rent to fall here.

Sure would be nice if we had a general idea of where "HERE" is!! Could be any place in Canada' U. S. A. or Mexico Or even down under!!!

Rents here in my part of northwest Iowa have come down some but there are still some big guys paying $300-$350. The scuttlebutt I hear is the reasonable farmers are paying $220-280 for average land. Last year the average for my county was $285.

You must be using classic view.

In modern view the location (Location: Dover Tenn.) is shown on the left if the poster has it included in the membership information.

If you have any of my post you would see references to East Central Il., Ford and Iroquois counties: also the mention of the towns of Gilman and Kankakee Il. In this case I was not discussion anything specific to my location; I was simply wanting to know the area where these bits of information are taking place as I am not aware of any thing of note but then I am not at home during the day to hear anything. Once I start hauling grain (corn & beans) to the Cargill grain terminals at Gilman and Gibson city, Il. I may here something of interest regarding the main topic of interest of this discussion and can properly join this discussion but I would still like to know the general area of this discussion.
