scrap yard finds

Today I was at the scrap yard bringing in the tin that was on my porch roof and saw a pair of implement tires on a skid along with all their used truck tires. I asked about them while I was getting paid and sure enough, they're for sale. How much? $50 comes back on the radio.

So I came home with a pair of 16.5 x 16.1 implement tires on 8 bolt rims for $20 more than I got paid for the little bit of scrap that I had.

SIL called about a month ago and said he was at
the scrap yard, and they had a chuck wagon that
had been scrapped, and looked usable. Guy who
owned the place said he'd take $400 for it, so I
told Scotty to bring it home. It was a JD 714A
with no roof, but I figured the gear was worth
$500 and the parts would be useful if the wagon
wasn't, but the thing was actually in fairly good
shape.

Got a call one week later form Scotty's phone, but
it was a PA State cop. Two morons had stolen it a
week earlier, pulled it thru 1/4 mile of mature
corn, and traded it for some drug money. Cop
referred to them as 'frequent fliers'.....I got my
money back, and the owner came down and picked it
up that evening.

I remember reading that one. I guess it's good you got your money back. Some yard owners would leave you holding the bag.
